The Joy of the Lord

Sometimes it seems that I get so caught up in my schedule, my agenda, my purposes and plans for these little kids and everything else that I lose a sense of peace and joy. I also find that I can't seem to get it back in my own power - I just can't manufacture true joy. I'm talking about the kind of joy that is accompanied by peace and a sense of contentment no matter how messy the house, no matter how unfinished the schoolwork or chores, no matter how late we are or what we didn't get done. That's the kind of joy I desire to have. I'm convinced it comes only through the Lord - it's a gift we get through praying for it and believing it is His desire to give it to us. It's a supernatural joy.

Praying for the joy of the Lord is a prayer that is within the will of God. I do believe it is His will that His children are people of joy. We will draw men unto us because we have the peace and joy that accompanies the hope that lies within us. If His will for us is to have joy, then our prayers will indeed be effective! Our prayers for joy will be answered!

Since it's God's will that we have joy, let's pray according to His Word that we are filled with this joy. Here are some wonderful joy scriptures to print up and post around your house to pray over yourself and your family. May the Word of God - which is powerful and effective for the pulling down of strongholds of discontentment, irritation and depression - accomplish all that it has the power to accomplish in your life.
Many are asking, "Who can show us any good?" Let the light of your face shine upon us, O Lord. You have filled my heart with greater joy than when their grain and new wine abound. I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety. Psalm 4:6-8
But let all who take refuge in you be glad; let them ever sing for joy. Spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may rejoice in you. For surely, O Lord, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield. Psalm 5:11-12
You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy, that my heart may sing to you and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give you thanks forever. Psalm 30:11-12

Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me. Psalms 51: 12

Bring joy to your servant, for to you, O Lord, I lift up my soul. Psalms 86:4
