Draw out of him his thoughts and ideas. Eventually it will begin to come naturally to discuss what he has learned. I have essentially given up on the narration with my 8 year old son (perfectionist by the way).  His standard answer is I don&amp;#39;t know or I forget.  In some respects it may be plain laziness or a plea to my tendency to give up when he does not cooperate.
